This is the shortened (less witty) version . . .
As you can see, the brewery consists of large silver vats and tubes and stuff...not quite what I expected.
I was kind of hoping we'd see the hops and yeasty goodness.
There was a lot of reading to be done--no tour guides, no pamphlets.
Nothing of interest to a seven-year-old whose mother led him to believe this tour might be interesting.
But we had fun at The Hershey Story -- exploring the Pennsylvania German Cooking exhibit and playing around on the interactive map . . .
We were happy to see the Apostolic Clock returned (it had been out for repairs) . . .
And Benjamin received a special treat from one our favorite docents . . .
A Hershey bar -- which he promptly unwrapped and ate in the car.

Nothing says homeschooling like a first grade field trip to a brewery! Sorry it was a bust. Maybe try these instead. http://www.giantmicrobes.com/us/products/beerandbread.html
ReplyDeleteLooks like our kind of place!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that chocolate bar made it to the Car! It looks like a wonderful day, in spite of the Brewery! The Photo's you take, made even it, look like a wonderful place to visit. I still love my favorite part of the OLD HERSHEY MUSEUM, the Apostolic Clock, even though, as a child, it scared me to DEATH!! I Love you, MOM
ReplyDeleteHey, thanks for the very nice comment on my blog. I loved your advice...even if we don't know how long we will be homeschooling, to just ENJOY every day of it! What is that saying?: "Time spent with a child is never wasted." :) :)
ReplyDeletep.s. That clock is awesome!
