It
was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows
cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.
~Charles Dickens
And in case you didn't notice (here in North America), it's soon road trippin' time!
So, we vacuumed the mini van (a.k.a. our summertime road trippin' RV) . . .
Loaded up the picnic basket (which we fill when we go on road trips) and blankets.
Placed a trash bag in our travel toilet (a.k.a. a recycled detergent bucket donated by my mom--believe it or not, it works in a pinch!). Note, the roll of paper in the cup holder. Seriously. Sometimes it's miles before the next rest stop.
The folding chairs are in the back -- along with Benjamin's beloved walking stick.
Onion bag full of sand box trucks (Check.), Pond Net (Check.), Water Sneakers (Check.)
There is moss growing on Big Hill -- moss we "planted" last year (recycled from our terrarium/winter gardens) . . . and it's spreading.
All sorts of bulbs are coming up -- daffodils, tulips, grape hyacinth.
I love, love, love seeing these round green succulent leaves poking through the brown!
And Oriental Poppy, well how do you do?
These babies look like they're going to bloom soon -- I can't wait for some more color!
Oh, Lenten Rose . . . you surprise me every year. It's not even Spring yet?
Methinks you are tulips, aren't you? I guess we'll see, won't we?
Our rosemary bloomed all winter -- can you tell we had a very mild winter in PA?
Hello, Butterfly Bush . . . welcome back. Will you make a hideaway for Benjamin again?
Oh, Privet . . . please, please, please fill in soon. I hate looking at the neighbor's house.
More blooms on the periwinkle . . . so pretty.
See those little buds on the tips of the lilac? Or, were you gazing at the sky?
I see you Lemon Balm. Just try to keep a lid on things this year--restrain yourself.
{ Is your yard showing signs of springtime ? }
You make me long for spring! The Black pussy willows in our yard are ready to pick and the grey, aren't far behind. I Love You, MOM
ReplyDeleteGrandma Minnie is probably smiling!
DeleteDespite Old Man Winter's flurries the last two days, we are still seeing some peeks of the Fair Maiden of Spring all over. You can feel it in the air, his icy grip is weakening! Daffodils are peeking out but not blooming yet. We did see some Colt's Foot blooming and one Dandelion. Spring Cress is beginning to bloom also (peppery and tasty if you've never tried eating it). We've also been watching the swelling buds on a lot of the trees, they know that spring is around the corner. We've been hearing spring peepers for about a week now and the funniest thing happened yesterday. The snow was really coming down and beginning to accumulate and the peepers were still calling! They refuse to recognize the snow.
ReplyDeleteOh, I wish we heard the peepers here (too urban). I love it that they refuse to acknowledge the snow. Ha ha ha...
DeleteI absolutely love your blog. Right away when I saw the LEGO pictures I had to stop and read. I have a LEGO fanatic in my house, too! I liked the links to the space videos -- I have never heard of that site, but I've bookmarked it now.
ReplyDeleteSo glad I found your blog!
Thank you so much -- I really appreciate your comment!! Enjoy the links. :)
